Eighth International Conference and Exhibition "Control engineering in TRACE MODE: challenges and prospects" was successfully held on February 20-22, 2002 in the Conference-center of OAO Gazprom in Moscow (Russia). This year the conference attendance was rather high. More than 700 control professionals participated in the Conference working schedule. The first edition of conference proceedings included over 45 reports about TRACE MODE based systems. The Conference was opened by Lev Anzimirov the AdAstra's president. Then control engineers from different companies presented speeches about the TRACE MODE based systems implementation. The conference was divided into two sections:
- "INTRODUCING SCADA"
- "PROFESSIONAL CLUB: MASTER CLASS"
Much attention attracted the presentation of the new TRACE MODE 6 project. AdAstra announced the final date of its release.
Conference has shown, the great growth of the automation market for the last year and a great demand for the new technological solutions.

A Belgorod based AIT company (South of Russia) has successfully used TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI software to develop and to implement a batch control system for manufacturing of fodder additives. The control system has been installed in facility of TeknoFeed (Tshebekino, Belgorod area, Russia). 
AdAstra Company (Russia) announced the release of real-time monitor (LinRTM) for the operating system Linux. 
In Bosnia, the Bosanski Brod refinery launched a second production line, which was repaired by the Russian company Zarubezhneft. Now the plant is able to produce the gasoline conforming to the Euro 5 standard.
