Basing on TRACE MODE 5 and Lomicont TM controllers, Severstal OJSC's specialists have implemented a management system for the agglomeration process at their enterprise. A task of the agglomeration process is to prepare high-quality raw materials for the blast-furnace production from an iron-ore concentrate mixture, circulating products, blast-furnace dust, scale, other iron-containing materials by their agglomeration with the required amount of flux, with the use of coke fines as a fuel.
Besides the visualisation of process parameters, the information system performs data archiving in a local archive, keeps alarm records, carried out the transfer of process parameters directly to the MS SQL-server in the computer centre, performs the required animation on video forms in order to display the manufacturing process.
According to the words by Severstal OJSC's specialists, one has managed to implement the functions of archiving process parameters, both in local archives and in archives of the central server of the DC and AGP computer centre, provide the transparency of technology at all management levels, both inside the agglomeration production and between the shops involved in the process chain. An opportunity has appeared to refuse the use of tens of registering devices. According to the data being stored in local and central archives, economic calculations are made, record-keeping of fuels and utilities and calculation of the self-cost are performed, a technical report is generated, calculations of material expenses, equipment outages are made, quality results are summarised, etc., up to bonus charging for the teams.
Upon implementing the control system, the amount of coke being used has reduced by 52%. The annual economic effect has amounted to $200 000 dollars. The repayment period is 20 days. The development has taken 5 man-months.
Below are the words said by A. Markelov, Head of MPCS Laboratory, Severstal OJSC: "Today TRACE MODE is the main development tool for the development and implementation of automation systems in agglomeration production shown itself as an optimal and easily adaptable system for the management, acquisition and displaying of process parameters". |
